“Narnia” is a musical production based on the book
“The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” by C. S. Lewis.

This musical is purchased with a soundtrack of all the songs which can be used wholly or in part at the director’s discretion.
It is most suitable for children in the senior primary school phase (ages 9 to 13) It tells the story of four siblings in wartime London, who find their way into a magical land, Narnia, which is reached by climbing into a wardrobe. Once there, they become involved in the events which are taking place in the land. These are struggles between forces of good (represented by Aslan, the lion) and evil (represented by the White Witch) They must all decide which side they are on and play their parts in the events which unfold.
There are about 20 speaking parts. At least 12 of these are large roles and some are solo singing roles. There are numerous small speaking and acting roles as well as a chorus which sings a lot of the group songs (this can be a select choir) The musical score is not complicated and could be played by music students. The score is largely for piano, but there are a few parts for other instruments. The production takes two to two and a half hours to perform.

There’s a land
Where there’s always a bird that sings
And the music of laughter rings
With the joy that a robin brings
That he brings
And the song
Echoes on ‘til the day is done
Through the night ‘til the early dawn
To awaken the sleeping faun
To sing and dance
CHORUS: In Narnia
The land of Narnia
The milk-white stag runs away
From all who chase him
In Narnia
The land of Narnia
For if he’s caught, so they say then
He must grant his captor’s wishes
He must grant his captor’s every wish
There’s a land
Where the nymphs and the dryads play
Where they dance with the fauns all day
By the light of the moon they sway
They sway
With the dwarfs
Who have come from the deepest mine
They will feast in the summertime
By the streams that will flow with wine
They dance and feast
CHORUS
CHORUS: We’re marching to battle now
Preparing for battle now
Make haste to the place
We’ll meet face to face
We’re marching to battle now
We’re going to meet the Witch
All speed to defeat the Witch
Released from the stone
We’re now flesh and bone
We’re going to meet the Witch
And as the prophecy did foretell
We’ll claim the thrones at Cair Paravel
So spring can now begin
And evil will not win
CHORUS
Shout out the news the gladness now tell
We’ll break the Witch’s terrible spell
So spring can now begin
And evil will not win
Bridge: Come on all you fauns join the battle throng
Lift your voices all in the triumph song
Victory is close and it won’t be long
‘Til Aslan is the King!
CHORUS
Do what you will, take what you like
Eat what you want of my Turkish Delight,
Take from my cup, foamy and sweet
All you desire to drink and to eat
Adam’s fair son, my chosen one,
Glorious moments for you have begun
You are my heir, you will be king
Sovereign and ruler of everything
All that I want, with all my heart
Is a young boy that’s so handsome and smart!
I’m growing old and when I’m through
I’d be so glad to be giving my kingdom to you!
